Japan's pole-and-line tuna fishery MSC certified

CU Pesca is happy to announce the certification of the Ishihara marine products albacore and skipjack pole and line fishery.

Ishihara Marine Products Co., Ltd. was established in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture in 1964, and has supplied fresh and processed tuna to the market for over half a century. While devoting itself to expanding its business by creating new fishery products, Ishihara has also committed to be environmentally friendly and make a social contribution.

Ishihara marine products made it possible for the tuna fisheries as carried out by the vessel Eisei Maru 8 to be assessed against the MSC standard, and CU Pesca’s assessment concludes that the fishery should be certified according to the Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fisheries as set by the Marine Stewardship Council.
