ASC-MSC Seaweed (Algae) Standard

Seaweed operations can influence water movement, the physical structure of terrestrial and aquatic habitats and water quality, as well as the productivity of fisheries. Globally, seaweed production and harvesting are increasing, leading to the demand for oversight and certification.

The ASC and MSC have jointly developed this standard to reward sustainable seaweed production and provide a benchmark for improvement. Certified companies are actively minimising their impact on the surrounding natural environment, as well as operating in a socially responsible manner whereby they are caring for their employees, working with the local community, and acting as conscientious neighbours.

Control Union is accredited to offer certification to seaweed farms and wild harvest operations against the ASC-MSC Seaweed (Algae) Standard globally.
